Hurts So Good

I went running last Saturday (the 19th) and had to overcome a huge inner battle. When I went to the track, there was a high school soccer game taking place and all of the players' families were in the stands! YIKES! What was I to do? I wasn't going to waste the gas and go home, so I thought, I could just wait till the game is over. But, how much longer does it have and what if there is another one afterwards? I could just go on the cross-country trail, but I don't want to do that alone and I would not know how far I had gone. I wanted to go 1.5 miles on Saturday. Hmmmmm. Well, I decided to bite the bullet of embarrassment and took the long bleacher steps down to the track. I ran in the outside lane to stay away from the fast, in shape soccer players and only ran from goal post to goal post on the visitors side so I was not in front of the crowd running! Silly, I know. But, it was really weird and uncomfortable. At least I ran!

Yesterday, I added another element to my highway 2 healthy. I did strength training (weights)! It was a total body workout and today, I can feel it! Whew! I am not SO sore that I can't move, but when I do move...it hurts so good! Hehe! I am going running today so I am glad I did not do more than I should have. Still, running is going to be interesting. I plan on doing strength training twice a week for now and continue my running schedule.

YAHOO!!! Way to run unashamed Angel! I KNOW how you feel! Training for my marathon - I am so slow that I watched a baseball game and a soccer game and was still going after they both ended - and they started one after another - 6 hours is a LONG time - but I didn't care - I needed to be on a track so who cares about the spectators - they are there to watch a game - not you - so glad you did it! It would have been easy to turn around and go home. those kinds of decisions make heros - people that others can look up to - so we're all proud of you - you showed the stuff that makes goals happen. Way to go - my hero! :) Love you always, Mom :0)
